Recently, I had the excellent opportunity to meet a woman who is involved with Global Giving, an organization that connects donors worldwide with community-based projects that need support.  Their website is incredible and amazingly easy to navigate.  They now offer gift cards, so that your family and friends can purchase a gift card to Global Giving and you, the recipient, can select which of the thousands of projects you’d like the donation to go towards.  It’s a great way to give back and even a really cool idea for wedding favors as well – check it out!

This sweet little tortie cat is VERY pregnant and due to have her kittens in the next week or so!  She was dumped at the Prince George’s County Animal Shelter by some heartless soul and was going to be euthanized.  Homeward Trails Animal Rescue saved her and I am fostering her!  I’ve actually fostered more animals than I can count, over the years, but I have never fostered a pregnant kitty before.  I’m very excited!  I have no idea how many babies this little kitty has in her belly, but I’m taking good care of her and giving her lots of nutritious food and love and hopefully all her babies will be born very healthy and happy.  Stay tuned for updates on Maya and her little family

For my own wedding, my bouquet was made completely of Lillies of the Valley.  They’re my favorite flower – I love how delicate they are and it always amazes me that such a tiny little flower can emit such a wonderful and powerful fragrance!  My mom is quite the gardner and has fields of these growing at her house in Indiana.  She’s visiting DC right now and brought some with her.  I took a few minutes to experiment with some photographs of them, seeing how they look from different angles – just for kicks.  Hope everyone is having a lovely day!

There’s so much fun stuff out there that you don’t even know exists until you go looking!  I love these new shoes I just got, made by Simple.  Anyone can make a pair of shoes, but to make 100% sustainable shoes, constructed from hemp and recycled tires, and make them this cute – that takes some creativity!
